As the former CEO of Sasuchan Development Corporation, Steve led a major transformation, overseeing a substantial increase in revenue and expanding the company’s footprint across construction, manufacturing, service, and resource industries. His leadership fostered Indigenous contractor opportunities and launched sustainable housing initiatives, including the development of Wildland Development to bring much-needed community housing to remote Indigenous communities. Steve’s work at Sasuchan showcased his executive ability to set and achieve ambitious growth goals, cultivate strong partnerships, and diversify revenue streams beyond traditional sectors.
In his role as CEO and General Manager at TDB Consultants, Steve leveraged his executive skills to build out new service lines in forestry, scaling, and vegetation control, pioneering strategies that contributed to TDB’s growth as a regional leader. He also established joint ventures with First Nations, including Lhi Tutl’it Services Inc., integrating Indigenous values into business strategy and underscoring Steve’s commitment to inclusive, partnership-driven leadership.
Throughout his executive career, Steve has been a driving force in continuous improvement and operational refinement, consistently leading teams to optimize productivity and client-focused outcomes. His emphasis on Lean methodologies and continuous improvement highlighted his work with Allnorth Consultants across the mining, pulp & paper, infrastructure, and energy engineering sectors and continues in his consulting practice, Nycholat Consulting, where he provides economic development and business consulting services to organizations aiming to strengthen their operational foundations. As an active Technology Assessment Facilitator for Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters, Steve delivers continuous improvement services, focusing on enhancing productivity and analyzing capital investment impacts.
Steve holds an MBA from the University of Northern British Columbia, a Forest Technologist diploma from the College of New Caledonia, and a LEAN Blackbelt certification. Beyond his professional achievements, he is actively involved in community development, serving on boards such as the UNBC Faculty of Business & Economics Advisory Board and Tla’amin Management Services.
