https://www.smithers.ca/First elected to Town Council in 2014 and re-elected in 2018, Gladys moved to the role of Acting Mayor in 2019, and was elected as Mayor in 2020 and re-elected in 2022. Since 2019 she has represented Smithers on the Boards of the Bulkley Nechako Regional District and Northwest Regional Hospital District.
She is a lifelong Smithereen who’s career has been in tourism. She has served on many local, regional and provincial volunteer boards. Most recently she completed 4 years as Chair of the Northern BC Tourism Association and 19 years of board service.
Gladys is passionate about maintaining the beauty and unique qualities of our community and is committed to ensuring Smithers is accessible and inclusive community. A priority is maintaining respectful working relationships with local businesses, organizations and other orders of government as a means to creating solutions for local issues.
In her off hours, Gladys enjoys time outdoors, or in her extensive gardens and traveling with her partner.
